The first step to unlocking Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ museum art gallery is to install the latest update and speak with Blathers. In this first post-update conversation, the adorable owl will indicate that he is interested in adding fine works of art to his museum, but players will need to lend a hand if they want him to pursue his interest further and open the art gallery.

Specifically, fans will need to wait until the following day, and Isabelle will note during the morning announcement that there have been reports of a suspicious character in the area. The suspicious character in question is Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Redd, and players can find this shady fox wandering around their islands after hearing Isabelle’s announcement.
Once a fan has located Redd, they should then speak with him, and this conversation will eventually lead to the fox selling the player their first piece of art in ACNH. Now, the player should return to Blathers and donate the artwork to him, and the next day they will find that the museum is undergoing a renovation. This renovation will take one full day, and the following day Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ museum art gallery will finally be open.
After a player has unlocked the museum art gallery in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they will then need to populate it. That is done by buying artworks from Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler, which fans will occasionally find anchored off of one of their beaches, but there is one important thing to mention: only one piece of artwork can be purchased per visit from Redd. Indeed, this means that it is going to take players quite a while to completely fill ACNH’s museum art gallery after they have unlocked it.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
