Ritual weapons came into Destiny 2 with the Shadowkeep DLC as an answer to Pinnacle weapons. Ritual weapons quests are a bit easier than Pinnacle quests were and the weapons changed a bit as well. Instead of Legendary weapons that have unique perks, Ritual weapons are Legendary weapons with strong perk combinations that make them good but not necessarily great.
Guardians will complete all of these steps in the Gambit game mode for the steps to count, but they can accomplish them at the same time. The kill-based quest steps also grant greater progress for Guardian kills.

Get 500 Shotgun Kills
This step is going to be the easiest because getting kills with a shotgun in Gambit is fairly easy. The weapon type one-shots most Guardians when they are invading and can mow through red bar mobs when playing the Player Versus Environment (PvE) part of the game mode. Equip a solid middle-of-the-road shotgun that can easily take down a guardian, unlike a Full Auto shotgun.
150 Close Range Shotgun Final Blows
Here the difficulty ramps up a little more, especially if players are not used to taking on other Guardians. The best choice for this is going to be a high impact high range shotgun that will take out any Guardian with one hit. Something like the Retold Tale or the Mindbender’s Ambition would be top tier choices. Nightstalker Hunter players may have an easier time with this step because of their invisibility and the Tether super throwing off aim and slowing other Guardians.
On the flip side, players can take the slower approach and use a full-auto shotgun and throw themselves right into the middle of a mob. It’s a riskier approach but it will get the job done.
Heroic Gambit Rank
Earn the Heroic Gambit Infamy rank. This step is the most simple and the one that some players will complete before the other two. Heroic is the seventh Infamy rank earned from playing Gambit. Guardians make progress with the ranks with every game played in the mode. Wins increase the amount of Infamy earned, and there are several Double Infamy weekends throughout a season. Once this is checked off, the players who have not completed the shotgun final blows and overall kills will be able to focus on those without worrying about winning the game to increase their rank.
After completing these three steps, players are rewarded with the Python shotgun by visiting the Drifter in the tower. With the perk combination of Smallbore, Extended Mag, a choice between Overflow or Feeding Frenzy, and a choice between Shield Disorient and One-Two Punch it can be suited for both PvE and PvP
Destiny 2 is now available on PS4, Xbox, PC, and Stadia.
