Sign in to the PlayStation account you used to buy the game. Go to the PlayStation Store and search for the game you want to upgrade. If you have already downloaded the PS4 version of the game to your PS5, tap on the “. . . " icon by the Play Game button, and then Select Version to download the PS5 version. If you have not installed the PS4 version, make sure you select the PS5 version before downloading. Tap on Download for free upgrades (or purchase if it’s a paid upgrade). Wait for the download and installation to complete; you can then start playing the PS5 version of your game.
If you’ve previously downloaded the PS4 version of your game, you might have both the PS4 and PS5 versions installed on your PS5. This can take up a lot of space, so you might want to delete the PS4 version to increase your PS5 storage space.

Insert the PS4 game disc into your PS5. Sign in to your account, go to the game hub for the game and Copy the game to your console’s internal storage. Once the installation is complete, tap on the “. . . " icon by the Play button and select View Product Page. Select the upgrade offer on the right side of your screen. Download the upgrade or purchase if it’s a paid upgrade. Wait for the download and installation to complete, and you can then start playing the PS5 version of your game. Note that you will need to insert the game disc each time you want to play the PS5 version of the game.
