What is SSH server?
SSH aka Secure Shell is a cryptographic network protocol for operating network services securely over an unsecured network, for example, logging into a computer system remotely. An SSh server is a software program which uses SSH to accept and establish connections from remote computers.
By using SSH servers, you can not only access the machine but also restart it, delete files that you might think are the culprit. In order to get connected to the faulty PC, you need to make sure that the system should be running an SSH server utility. It is recommended to install an SSH server on those PCs with whom you get remotely connected for troubleshooting. As it gives you an upper hand, you can access the computers remotely, even if they won’t boot properly into Windows.
If you are confused, where you can get an SSH server file then don’t as you can get a free version of SSH server from Bitvise. It is a non-commercial copy for personal use with an excellent terminal. It has a single virtual file system for SFTP, SCP, and terminal (when using BvShell) with multiple configurable mount points. All you need to do is download the installer file of 14 MB from its website. You can download the file from the site as the site is rated by Web of Trust and the good news is as per VirusTotal the website is free of all malware. Download Here
Install the file. Once the installation is done, you can get connected to the remote computer using an SSH terminal. Make sure you open port 22 on the remote computer’s firewall.
Note: If you don’t know how to do it and also the conclusion to do it, it is better to take advice from an expert before trying it out as this can be a security risk.
Having SSH server can be very helpful if you have clients on whose computers you work very often or if you want to get access to your office computer while at home.
