Google’s official blogpost said, “You can now find additional information about people within your organization, your Contacts, and people who email you in the Gmail side panel. This includes: Contact information, such as phone number and email address, Team and manager, Office and desk location, Whether you’ve received email from them before, and more.” It further added,  “Even as there is no admin control for this feature, but users can visit the ‘Help Center’ to learn more about adding information to a user’s ‘Directory’ profile.”

How to Use Google Contacts

You can now get to the contacts page by clicking the Apps icon in the upper right corner of the Gmail inbox. When you click the Apps icon, a square made up of nine smaller squares, it will show a panel of icons for other Google programs and services, including Google Photos, Google News, and YouTube.

In case one is not able to see the Contacts icon in the window, then the next step is to scroll through the panel until it is seen. Users can also drag the Contacts icon to the top of the collection to find it more easily in the future, and can simultaneously rearrange the other icons around it as per requirement. All one has to do is click on the Contacts icon to open the address book.

 Gmail account holders can also edit a sender’s contact card right on the mailbox screen. To do so, the cursor is to be moved over the person’s name in the inbox list. Then, a contact card should pop up, showing the sender’s email address and providing a few options, such as “Add to Contacts” button in case the sender is not a part of your contact list. User will also the “Edit Contact” button iin case the sender is also a part of the listf you have previously added the sender. Icons for creating a new email, scheduling a calendar event, sending a text and starting a video call with that person are also available.

“This feature expands upon the information you can already view when hovering over a person’s name in Gmail. In the side panel, you can learn more about who the person you’re collaborating with is, what team they’re on, and whether you’ve interacted with them before. We hope this feature makes collaboration and connecting with key stakeholders easier,” the company added.
