They’re also differently colored than other Pokemon of the same species. You have to do a lot of searching to find them, but they’re well worth the return in the end. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have Shiny Pokemon as well, and they’re just as difficult to find as ever.

Thankfully, there’s a way around the old-fashioned option of running around the Pokemon world getting into random battles and hoping the monster you’ve happened upon is Shiny. Thanks to a simple exploit you can use to fast-track your Shiny hunt, you’ll be on your way to growing your collection of Shiny monsters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in no time.

If it’s important to you that you have as many Shiny Pokemon as possible, we’ve got all the details you need to make it even simpler to get them in your own game. You’ll have plenty of Shiny pals in no time with this method.

How to Use the Shiny Picnic Reset in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

YouTuber PhillyBeatzU has come up with an ingenious way to use a special glitch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to help you capture Shiny monsters. It involves using the Picnic feature to encourage similar Pokemon to respawn, which will in turn help you get a Shiny Pokemon to appear.

To use this method, as outlined in PhillyBeatzU’s video, you’ll first want to go to your in-game map. Find any area where you can see an outbreak of Pokemon, or when you see several of the same species gathering together in one place. It will be marked on your map by a red symbol that flashes.

Use a Pokemon that has the move False Swipe, which will reduce the enemy Pokemon’s HP to 1 point. Head out to the group of Pokemon you found and start defeating Pokemon as they spawn. You’ll start increasing your Shiny spawn rate after finishing off about 60 enemies, which will bring your Shiny rate to about 1 in 1365 at that time. According to PhillyBeatzU, you’ll then need to save your game and set up a picnic table.

Once you finish your picnic, you’ll find that all the Pokemon previously as part of the outbreak will respawn. This reset break will end up increasing your chances that a Shiny will appear. He demonstrated this in his video, but you can try it as well. Newsweek can confirm that this exploit does work, for now. So be sure to jump on it now, because it could be patched out in the future.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
