Can You Use Spotify On Chromecast?

Not only can you use Spotify with your Chromecast, but you can do so from nearly any device you own.

You can cast Spotify to Chromecast using the following devices as your audio remote control:

Desktop: Using the Spotify desktop appBrowser or Chromebook: Using the Spotify web playerMobile: Using the mobile Spotify app or Google Home app

Each of these Spotify players includes a Devices icon where you’ll find the feature to cast your Spotify music to your Chromecast device.

Make Sure Your Chromecast Is Set Up

Before you can cast Spotify music to Chromecast, you need to make sure your Chromecast device is properly installed and setup your Chromecast.

Check all of the following:

Connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the device you’re casting fromYour TV is set to the HDMI channel your Chromecast device is connected toThe TV is turned on and you can see the Chromecast home screen

Once your Chromecast is ready, you can start casting your Spotify music.

Chromecast Spotify From Your Smartphone

If you have Spotify on your smartphone, you can use Chromecast to send to it to your TV. It’s a similar process to casting any other entertainment.

Before you can cast Spotify, you’ll need to download and install the Spotify app for your Android or iPhone. When you first launch the app, you can browse and select the song or playlist you want to cast to your Chromecast device. Once the song you’ve selected is playing, just tap the devices icon at the lower left corner of the screen. This will bring up the list of devices on your network that you can cast to. You should see the Chromecast device you’ve connected to the TV. The name of the Chromecast device is the name you provided when you set up the Chromecast device in your Google Home app. Just tap the Chromecast device from your list and your Spotify music will cast to your TV.

Chromecast Spotify From Your Desktop

To cast to Chromecast with Spotify, complete the steps above to connect your mobile device’s Spotify app with Chromecast. Once connected, you can control the Chromecast Spotify music with the Spotify desktop app.

When you first launch the app, you can browse and select the song or playlist you want to cast to your Chromecast device.

The name of the Chromecast device is the name you provided when you set up the Chromecast device in your Google Home app.

Spotify’s site has the Spotify desktop app for Windows or Mac OS.

If you don’t have one yet, sign up for a Spotify account. Once it’s installed, launch the Spotify desktop app, and log in with your Spotify account. From the main page, browse or search for the music you want to play.

Launch the playlist or artist song list, and select what you want to cast. Select the Devices icon at the lower right corner of the window to bring up all available devices you can control. You should see the Chromecast device on your TV displayed in the list. If it isn’t currently displayed in green, select the device to activate it. Now, you can control the music that plays from Spotify to your Chromecast device.

Cast Spotify Music From Your Browser

Spotify’s Web Player can Chromecast Spotify without the need to install and run the Spotify app on your phone. Casting from the Spotify Web Player is easy.

Access the Spotify Web Player and log into your Spotify account. Find the song or playlist you want to listen to on your TV and select Play. When the song begins playing, select the Devices icon at the lower right corner of the screen. Select Google Cast in the list. This will open the Cast feature in Chrome. You’ll see a list of Chromecast devices on your network. Select the Chromecast device you want to send Spotify audio to, and your music will start playing immediately.
